Let’s Rank: Mattel Legends 11-18

Continuing from Mattel Legends 7-10 here:

Series 11:

  • Bam Bam Bigelow
  • Big John Studd
  • Macho Man Randy Savage (+Chase)
  • Scott Hall

The Breakdown: Legends gets back on track here with a good lineup. Savage is the gem of the set, in both versions, but Bam Bam Bigelow is also a very underrated figure. Big John is fine, but Scott Hall has one of the worst headscans in years.

Series 12:

Preview Here:

  • Billy Gunn
  • Junkyard Dog (+Chase)
  • Kevin Nash
  • Rowdy Roddy Piper

The Breakdown: Kevin Nash leads the pack here, in an excellent nWo attire with good accessories. Billy Gunn starts the run of DX in the Legends and his figure is solid. Piper has an iffy head scan, and his kilt is the wrong color for the time period. JYD is very accurate.

Series 13:

  • Cowboy Bob Orton
  • The Hurricane
  • Jake The Snake Roberts (+Chase)
  • Triple H

Breakdown: This is an underwhelming set, the only real highlight for me were the two Jake Roberts, which were better than the ones in series 8.

Series 14:

  • Chyna
  • Edge (+Chase)
  • Mean Mark Callous
  • Road Dogg

Breakdown: another underwhelming set, that I only picked up to complete the set, especially Chase Edge and the DX Road Dogg and Chyna.

Series 15:

  • X-Pac
  • Kane
  • Lex Luger (+Chase)
  • Stacy Keibler

Here we go. Back on track with four solid figures and Stacy, who is melting the pegs on clearance as we speak. I called for a WCW Lex Luger with 1990s chase here, and Mattel nailed it with an nWo version and a 1992 version. Kane is one of the best figures in the whole series.

Series 16:

Preview Here:

  • Bradshaw
  • Faarooq
  • Molly Holly (+Chase)
  • Rey Mysterio

Back to the mediocre, as this set was only ever going to be average. The Bradshaw and Farooq were nice additions, but Rey and Molly didn’t generate a lot of excitement.

Series 17:

Preview Here:

  • Shawn Michaels
  • Ken Shamrock (+Chase)
  • AJ Styles
  • Ultimate Warrior

Coming soon, this one is the Shawn Michaels hour all the way. AJ and the Warrior are quite boring. Shamrock in blue is the chase for some reason, when it should be the green one. I’ll be looking for these, but not super excited.

Series 18:

Preview here:

  • Paul E. Dangerously
  • Samu (+Chase)
  • Fatu (+Chase)
  • Hulk Hogan

Here we go. Series 18 comes with fire, featuring debuting Samu and returning Fatu as the Headshrinkers, and the first two chases in one set with them in their 1989 attires. WCW Hogan looks great, and Paul E. is a great WCW addition.

Looking forward to the Mattel Legends line staying strong and moving forward, hopefully Mattel will keep the lineups strong.

Happy hunting!
