Since 1992, I’ve been collecting wrestling figures in various forms. It all started with WWF Hasbros and quickly evolved to include WCW Galoob, WCW OSFTM, Jakks Bone Crunchers, and eventually, Mattel Elites and Retros. My collection has been shaped by years of dedication, lucky finds, and, yes, a few regrets.
Over the years, my holy grail list has grown—and thankfully, shrunk—as I’ve tracked down elusive figures and knocked them off my list. Some of the most painful passes were on now-pricey Ringside Collectibles exclusives, and others I just didn’t think would become so rare. This post is an updated, categorized list of the figures I’m still hunting, as of 2023. If you’re a fellow collector, you know that the thrill of the chase is half the fun.
Whether you’re building your dream display or just love the nostalgia, here’s a glimpse into the rarest wrestling figures I’m still after—my true wrestling figure holy grails.
WWF Hasbros
The holy grail of wrestling figure lines for many collectors. I’m just a few away from having what I consider a “complete” set:
- Mailaway Hulk Hogan
- Mailaway Bret Hart (in bag)
- Mailaway Undertaker
- Upgrade Needed: Roddy Piper, Honky Tonk Man
THE GRAIL: Mailaway Undertaker is particularly tough to find sealed and in good condition.
WCW Galoob
One of the most unique and colorful lines. These few would complete my set:
- Dustin Rhodes
- El Gigante
- Big Josh
- Barry Windham (blue gear)
- Brian Pillman (blue gear)
- Lex Luger (robed)
- Sting (with coat)
THE GRAIL: I’ve never even seen the Sting with coat version in person.
OSFTM WCW
Just need these to complete a representative lineup:
- Jerry Sags and Brian Knobbs in Orange and Green attires
- Booker T and Stevie Ray in Red and Dark Blue attires
- Macho Man Randy Savage in black and silver attire
Lex Luger- Kevin Sullivan in Red attire
- Ric Flair in Blue and
Greenattires - Hulk Hogan in red pants attire
- Sting in Black and Pink attires, Crow version
THE GRAIL: Ric Flair in blue gear and Sting in black remain incredibly rare and highly valued.
Jakks Pacific – Bone Crunching Action (BCA)
The Jakks BCA line defined a generation. I’m missing several key figures, including some I want to replace for condition reasons:
- Razor Ramon (replacement)
- Ultimate Warrior (green variant)
- Goldust (black trim)
- British Bulldog (red/blue, replacement)
- Vader – DTA Tour 1
- The Godwinns – Tag Team Series, Shotgun Series 1
- Kane – Shotgun Series 2
GRAIL FIGURES: Ultimate Warrior (regular and green variants) are especially difficult to find in good condition.
Jakks Classic Superstars
Just one left:

This list has thankfully shrunk thanks to the Vault and Greatest Hits series. But a few gems remain:

These were all obtained by a lucky trip to Ollie’s, where they had retro four packs for great price.
Mattel Ultimate Edition
A few key Mattel Creations exclusives missing:
- Doink the Clown (New Generation Arena)
- Ringside/Mattel Creations Kane
Ringside Collectibles / Mattel Creations Exclusives
These exclusives are notoriously hard to come by, and often skyrocket in value:
- Macho King Randy Savage
- Bret Hart (Pink and Black Attack)
- Hulk Hogan (American Made)
- nWo Macho Man
- nWo Wolfpac Macho Man
Some of these are being re-released via Vault (e.g., Shawn Michaels in DX gear, Scott Hall black & white, Kevin Nash nWo), which helps ease the pain a little.
Final Thoughts
Tracking down these wrestling figure holy grails has been a rewarding journey—equal parts frustrating and thrilling. While some figures remain out of reach due to rarity or price, the chase is what keeps the passion alive.
Whether you’re digging through bins at conventions or refreshing eBay listings, the community and nostalgia make it all worthwhile. This list is far from final. As I add more to the shelf, I’ll be updating it and continuing the hunt.
