The Ultimate Guide to Jakks Classic Superstars Series: 6-10

The Jakks Pacific WWE Classic Superstars series is legendary for many reasons. It introduced an official line dedicated to legenday talents for the first time. By the time it was finished, almost all major names from the history of wrestling had been covered, and it is remembered fondly, despite some severe parts choices in some cases and some detail errors in others. That was how Jakks rolled, and we loved them for it. This is the second in a series of posts covering the Jakks Classic Superstars Series, with checklists, and my opinion of the best and worst in each wave. For today, we’re going back to 2006, and covering Series 6-10.

Part one

Classic Superstars Series 6:

Checklist:

  • Shawn Michaels
  • Koko B. Ware
  • Andre The Giant
  • Animal
  • Hawk
  • Bobby The Brain Heenan
  • Doink The Clown
  • Earthquake
  • One Man Gang

Note: this was one of the hardest to track down CS waves, primarily being found at KB Toys.

The Best: This Doink is one of the best of all of the Classic Superstars series.

The Worst: I’m going to go with Bobby Heenan here, as he never wore his suit like that. Earthquake is another contender due to another use of the Yokozuna body when it didn’t fit.

Series 7:

  • Ultimate Warrior
  • Jimmy Hart
  • Superstar Billy Graham
  • British Bulldog
  • Andre The Giant
  • King Harley Race
  • Don Muraco
  • Gorilla Monsoon
  • Eddie Guerrero

Note: This wave was also pretty hard to track down, again being found at KB Toys.

The Best: Bulldog and the King here, I’ll go with Davey Boy as a personal favorite.

The Worst: Gorilla Monsoon was a swing and a miss with the soft goods. Also Jimmy Hart didn’t wear his shirt like that either.

Classic Superstars Series 8:

  • Hulk Hogan
  • Hollywood Hogan
  • Chief Jay Strongbow
  • Vader
  • Classy Freddie Blassie
  • Cowboy Bob Orton
  • Bruiser Brody
  • Jerry The King Lawler

Note: This wave hit Target mostly.

The Best: Hollywood Hogan is one of the best Classic Superstars. There is also a variation with the smaller and bigger WCW title belt.

The Worst: Vader has a great face scan, but that Yokozuna body rears it’s head again.

Series 9:

  • Bam Bam Bigelow
  • Kamala
  • Animal
  • Road Warrior Hawk
  • Papa Shango
  • Paul Bearer
  • The Godfather
  • Akeem
  • Ric Flair

Note: This wave hit Walmart mostly for me.

The Best: Bam Bam Bigelow is fantastic. Papa Shango is a good runner up.

The Worst: LOD 2000 Animal is one of the worst Classic Superstars, since they made a mismatched LOD set.

Series 10:

  • Mr. Perfect
  • Sabu
  • Rocky Maivia
  • Harley Race
  • Dusty Rhodes
  • Bruno Sammartino
  • Greg The Hammer Valentine
  • Gorilla Monsoon

Note: This wave was at Tatget and Walmart evenly, which made life easier.

The Best: Valentine because of his robe, but Perfect is almost Perfect as well.

The Worst: Dusty Rhodes and his painted on knee pads and boot details.

This is part two of a full line breakdown of the Jakks Classic Superstars Series. I’ll be back with Series 11-15 soon.
