Legends line: let’s fill some holes!

Previously, I made a post about the Legends I want to see made. This time, I want to fill some holes in the line specific to certain events and times in the WWF or wrestling history. To keep it concise, I will only go through the end of 1992.

Honorable mentions: Bad News Brown, Ronnie Garvin, The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers, Paul Roma, Dino Bravo.

Fill some holes: Solo Acts

Virgil

Virgil was released as a Toys R Us exclusive in the Million Dollar Man suit. However he has not been released from his 1991-92 solo run. He would help complete: Wrestlemania 7/8, Summerslam 91/92, Survivor Series 91/92, Royal Rumble 92/93.

The Mountie

Da Mountie is an icon in the early 1990s, and he needs a Mattel WWE Legend figure. He would help complete: Wrestlemania 7/8, Summerslam 91, Royal Rumble 92, and Survivor Series 91, and the Hasbro lineup in Mattel Form.

Koko B. Ware

Koko was a mainstay in the WWF through the 80s and early 90s. He is very toyetic, as they say, and would be a popular and colorful figure. He would help complete: Wrestlemania 3/4/6, Royal Rumble 89/90/93, Survivor Series 88/90/92, and Summerslam 88, as well as the Hasbro lineup in Mattel Form.

Haku

Haku is one of the most needed legends to fill some holes in the lineups over the years. He would help complete Wrestlemania 4/5/6/7, Survivor Series 87/88/89/90, Royal Rumble 88/89/90/91/92. He was also a big omission from the Hasbro Lineup.

Hercules

Hercules was a mainstay in the WWF. As a heel, then a face, and then a heel as part of Power and Glory, he was always on Pay per Views back then. He is a much needed presence in the Legends Line. He would help complete: Wrestlemania 2/3/4/5/6/7, Summerslam 88/89/90/91, Survivor Series 87/88/89/90/91, and Royal Rumble 89/90/91.

Fill Some Holes: Tag Teams

The Steiner Brothers

The Steiner Brothers are a big missing spot in the Legends line. They are highly requested, as they are considered to be one of the greatest tag teams of all time. They would help complete Royal Rumble 93/94, Wrestlemania 9, Summerslam 93, and Survivor Series 1993. The Steiners would also help fill out the Hasbro lineup in Mattel form.

The Beverly Brothers

The opponents of the Steiners at Royal Rumble 93, The Beverly Brothers were a glaring omission from the Hasbro WWF line, and they need to be made as Mattel Legends. They would help complete: Survivor Series 91/92, Royal Rumble 92/93 and Summerslam 92.

The British Bulldogs

The British Bulldogs of Dynamite Kid and Davey Boy Smith were a legendary tag team in the 1980s. There have been Legends figures of Smith, but not of Dynamite. Jakks had him in the Classic Superstars, but Mattel needs to match the Collector’s edition of Davey. He would help complete: Wrestlemania 2/3/4, Summerslam 88, Survivor Series 87/88 and Royal Rumble 88, as well as the assortment of tag team champions.

Strike Force: Rick Martel and Tito Santana

Tito Santana was released as a part of the WWE Hall of Fame Target Exclusives, in his solo attire. Coincidentally, his solo attire was also the attire of Strike Force, his team with Rick Martel, who were tag team champions from 1987-1988. Martel was released in Legends series 5, but in his Model gimmick and has not been seen since. We need a complete Strike Force. They would help complete Wrestlemania 4/5 and Survivor Series 87/88.

Fill Some Holes: Finish What was Started

The Barbarian solo run
Powers of Pain: Warlord and Barbarian with Mr. Fuji

We have solo attire Warlord, and we just got The Powers of Pain version, so we definitely need a Barbarian to complete the team. He was released in the Classic Superstars, so a Mattel is definitely in order. We definitely need a solo and Powers version. Barbarian would help complete: Summerslam 88, Wrestlemania 5/6/7, Royal Rumble 89/90/92, and Survivor Series 88/89/90.

The Rockers: Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty

Retrofest Shawn Michaels came in an attire very similar to the one in the picture above. It’s egregious that there isn’t a matching Marty to go along with him. The Rockers have only been released as a team once, as an online exclusive. The Rockers were an important team and they need to be completed. Since Jannetty was already released, this would only complete the team with Retrofest Michaels.

Flyin Brian Pillman of the Hollywood Blonds

Stunning Steve Austin was released in 2021 as an Elite Flashback, and he definitely needs his partner, Brian Pillman. The Hollywood Blonds were a top team in WCW in 1993, and they need to be completed. Bengal tights Pillman just doesn’t work as well.

WCW Edition

The Natural Dustin Rhodes

With Dustin now in AEW, this would be highly unlikely, but there needs to be a Mattel release of Dustin Rhodes in his earlier days in WCW. He had a strong run from 1991-1995 as “The Natural” and would make for a great figure as a compliment to Goldust. He would also help complete Royal Rumble 1991.

The Midnight Express with Jim Cornette

The MX were one of the best tag teams in the 1980s, along with one of the greatest managers, Jim Cornette. All three deserve inclusion in the Legends line.

In Conclusion

I’m always looking for new names and faces to be added to the Legends line. Hopefully some of these guys will be considered soon. Happy Hunting!
