Wrestling Figure Holy Grails

Since 1992, I have been collecting wrestling figures in various forms. Starting with WWF Hasbro, that led to WCW Galoob, WCW OSFTM, Jakks Bone Crunchers, Jakks TTL and RA (which aren’t covered here) and Mattel. My Mattel list of Holy Grails has shrunk considerably since I wrote my wrestling regrets, and updates for missing pieces, and again in 2023.

For passionate wrestling figure collectors, the thrill of the hunt often centers around finding the ultimate “holy grails”—the rarest, most valuable, and highly sought-after wrestling action figures that stand out in any collection. From vintage WWF and WWE figures to limited edition Jakks Pacific and Mattel releases, these rare wrestling collectibles capture the hearts of fans worldwide. Whether it’s a hard-to-find variant, a packaging error, or a discontinued release, these wrestling figure holy grails can fetch high prices on the secondary market and represent prized possessions for dedicated collectors. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore some of the most iconic and elusive wrestling figures, share tips on how to identify and acquire them, and discuss why they hold such a special place in wrestling memorabilia history.

WCW Galoob:

  • Dustin Rhodes
  • Brian Pillman blue gear
  • Barry Windham blue gear
  • El Gigante
  • Big Josh
  • Sting w/ coat
  • Lex Luger w/robe

This would give me a complete set.

THE GRAIL: I’ve never seen Sting with a coat in person.

WCW OSFTM:

  • Lex Luger
  • Nasty Boys in Green, Orange, Yellow
  • Macho Man in black and silver
  • Macho Man Series 2 (Yellow, Red, and Black)
  • Ric Flair in red, green, blue
  • Harlem Heat in dark blue, red
  • Kevin Sullivan in red
  • Hulk Hogan in workout gear
  • Crow Sting
  • Sting in Pink, Black

This list would give me a complete set.

THE GRAIL: Ric Flair in blue is extremely rare and expensive.

Grails here are Sting in black, Flair in blue, as they are very hard to come by for a good price.

Jakks BCA:

  • Ultimate Warrior regular release
  • Ultimate Warrior in green
  • Bret Hart no glasses
  • Goldust series 3 version
  • Best of 1998 Series 1 Skull
  • Plus a decent sized list of replacements

Ringside Collectibles:

  • Macho King
  • nWo Macho Man
  • Wolfpac Macho Man
Ringside Collectibles exclusive Macho King Randy Savage
Ringside Collectibles Exclusive Macho Man Randy Savage nWo version
Ringside Collectibles Macho Man Randy Savage nWo Wolfpac edition

I greatly reduced my Mattel list due to the Vault and Greatest Hits, as they are covering a lot of the missing pieces that I will accept into my collection.

Hasbro:

  • Mail-in Bret Hart
  • Mail-in Undertaker
  • Mail-in Hulk Hogan
Hasbro Mail ins Bret Hart, Undertaker, Hulk Hogan

Tracking down these wrestling figure holy grails has been a rewarding journey filled with patience, persistence, and a genuine passion for the hobby. This list is mostly achievable, though some figures remain extremely pricey—which is exactly what makes them true grails. I will be updating this list over time and removing those that I manage to add to my collection. From scouring online auctions to connecting with fellow collectors and attending conventions, each find feels like a hard-earned victory. While these rare figures can be elusive, the thrill of the chase makes every step worthwhile. I hope this guide inspires you to embark on your own collecting adventure—whether you’re hunting for that one missing piece or building your ultimate wrestling figure collection.
