An annual tradition, it’s time to rank the 2024 Super Treasure Hunts from Hot Wheels. This ranking is purely my opinion, and has some criteria:
- Casting choice
- Color
- Wheels
- Intangibles like repeated castings or anything else I choose
Here are my 2023, 2022, 2021 and 2020 rankings.
There are fifteen castings that became Super Treasure Hunts for 2024, and this is my ranking, starting with 15-11:
2024 Super Treasure Hunts, 15-11:
Mazda 787B
Case:
Rank: 15
Starting from the bottom is this piece of garbage, that is better suited to be in the Car Culture line than taking up a valuable Super Treasure Hunt spot.
Celero GT
Case: N
Rank: 14
Another 2023 debut fast tracked to the Super series. This one also does nothing for me, even though it is purple, it doesn’t save it here.
Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution
Case: J
Rank: 13
This truck debuted in 2023 and already got the Super treatment. The color is the only saving grace here, but otherwise another swing and a miss.
Audi 90 Quattro
Case: G
Rank: 12
Another Car Culture reject masquerading as a Super Treasure hunt, this one does nothing for me, but the blue does look excellent, credit where it’s due.
’60s Fiat 500D Modificado
Case: E
Rank: 11
This one isn’t much better, the gold color pops but this thing is not impressive at all. Pass.
2024 Super Treasure Hunts 10-6:
BMW 507
Case: C
Rank: 10
Technically, there’s nothing wrong with this one, it’s just boring to me. The gold works though.
Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo
Case: P
Rank: 9
There’s nothing really good or bad about this one. Another red super.
Volvo P1800 Gasser
Case: H
Rank: 8
Another 2023 Debut, this one was a Legends tour winner, but personally I hate the casting. The color scheme though, looks fantastic, and it’s the closest we get to a Gulf Oil scheme for this year.
’89 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC AMG
Case: D
Rank: 7
Mattel loves their red Supers, and this one is no exception. It’s sharp, but not better than the ones coming after it on the list.
’18 Camaro SS
Case: B
Rank: 6
The Good: It’s a Camaro Super. The Bad: It’s a black super, which never looks that great in Spectraflame.
The top 5:
Ford Escort ES2000
Case: A
Rank: 5
Honestly, a mediocre casting, but the color jumps right out in an amazing shade of Spectraflame Green, and chrome wheels gives this one a huge boost.
’96 Nissan 180SX Type X
Case: M
Rank: 4
Much like the 2021 Nissan Super, this is a gorgeous blue color with white wheels this time, and it is a beautiful piece.
’77 Pontiac Firebird
Case: L
Rank: 3
This is a casting that is definitely needed as a Super, but I wish they had made it in red or blue instead of black, and it would likely be number one. Still, a beautiful car that is right in the center of my wheelhouse of collecting.
’71 El Camino
Case: F
Rank: 2
Our annual Purple Super brings us this breathtaking El Camino, which is extremely sharp to look at and is my favorite of what’s been released to date (6-2-24). It could easily be number one, except that they chose…
’83 Chevy Silverado
Case: Q
Rank: 1
Anyone who knows me, knew this would be number one. This is a repeat super, but this one blows away that version in a great blue color and chrome rims. I’d really like to find this one.
