The Unforgettable Impact of Jakks Classic superstars: The Worst

The Jakks WWE Classic Superstars line is iconic. It was the first serious attempt at a “retro” series of figures. In 26 waves, plus 2 and 3 packs, and exclusives, Jakks compiled a huge roster of talents from all eras. However, not all of the releases were hits. These are my personal worst of the line, ones that should have been better.

The Worst Classic Superstars:

In No Particular Order. Photos from figurerealm.com

Series 10 Dusty Rhodes. What sinks this figure is the painted on knee pads, and cowboy boot print over laced up boots. Poor parts selection.
Series 16 Sycho Sid: This figure is okay, but ruined with inaccurate short boots and no knee pads. The taller boot mold from Jakks would have made this figure shorter. 🤦🏻‍♂️
Series 23 Eddie Guerrero: This one is supposed to be from his days under a mask as Black Tiger, but they couldn’t get license, so they released an unmasked Eddie instead. This should have been a different era of his career if they couldn’t get the masked version.
Series 9 Animal: This LOD 2000 version was a poor choice, as they released Hawk in the far superior Road Warriors version and never made the matching sets. To make it worse, LOD 2000 was released together in Series 23, and a better version than what’s here.
Series 24 Dynamite Kid: a useless repaint with a tshirt on. Dynamite had just been released in series 20, but gets another go here but a poor showing.

Here’s some more of The Worst Classic Superstars:

Series 9 The Godfather: the head scan is excellent here, but the attire is from a one night appearance instead of his typical gear that should have been used here. The coat is nice, but I would trade it for the proper attire.
Series 27 Big Show: they released Big Show in a baggy black outfit for some reason. To make things worse, they did it twice.
Series 19/27 Doink the Clown: This figure was great in series 19. It covered his 1994 era well. Then it was released again in series 27, as “Evil Doink”, in the face costume. A complete waste of a spot.
Series 1: Andre the Giant: Figures like this are why people consider Jakks to be lazy. They reused a Big Show body and stuck on a Andre head. Just horrible all around.
Classic 3 pack: This one gets a nod because of the terrible Kane in 1997 gear with a 2002 head, but also for the Paul Bearer that is taller than both Kane and Undertaker. Sloppy work.
Series 22 Big Boss Man. The absolute worst. Using the Paulie shirt from Rocky was a terrible choice. Bossman rarely had his shirt untucked, and the back is tucked in as well. This figure is sloppy and awful.
