Every year at Christmas time, the big stores like Walmart and Target load up their toy departments in hopes of catching parents in a spending frenzy. Especially with the demise of Toys R Us, The Big W and Target have been the main spots for toy departments. Yes Toys R Us is allegedly coming back, but that KB Toys sized store in New Jersey isn’t enough to call it a comeback.
One section that is almost always blown out and depleted is the WWE section, especially in Walmart. Unless you love AJ Styles, there is very little to choose from. Target is a little better with getting in Elites and Basics, but they still have a lot of room left over. A recent Walmart trip showed 0 figures, some belts, and two rings. How is a person who’s kid wants WWE for Christmas, or even as an adult gift going to accomplish anything when Mattel can’t get WWE product into the stores for Christmas?
It’s definitely not lack of products to choose from. Mattel puts out a basic set once a month, an elite set every other month, and battle packs I believe 4x a year. Not to mention special store exclusive series and the horrible idea of “Top Talents”.
Top talents are a great idea in theory, in that the biggest stars are always readily available, guys like AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman are some of the most popular guys in WWE and should be well represented in figure form.
