In 2020, I’ve really been concentrating on Target, as they have been more up to date on the newest cases of Hot Wheels, and generally get stock in more frequently than Walmart.
My goal was to have the Super Treasure Hunt for A, B, C, and D Case before the end of 2020. I found A case at Dollar General, received B case from a trading buddy of mine (I ended up finding two more) and C case I traded for from another trading buddy right before Christmas. Usually D case begins showing up before the end of the year, and this year was no exception.
I started finding D cases at Target, but no Supers to be found. I had very helpful associates pull cases from the back, I caught fresh cases just coming out, and caught full, fresh pegs. But that D Case Super (Porsche 918 Spyder) eludes me to this day.
Then the bins showed up. Target put out small displays that nicely contained their first batch of Red Editions, which was a plus. The downside? They were all C case. Every Target in the area received at least 200 pieces of C case cars that were at that point out of date, since they had already started on D case. That slowed the stores down a lot on getting in cases, for a couple of weeks.
After those couple of weeks, Target started getting in cases again. The first store I went to, I asked the clerk and she had no record of cases in the back. I asked her to double check in case it was a shipper, and she agreed. Then I spotted two cases on a cart sitting right inside the backroom doors. Another associate popped up and I was able to get him to bring me those cases. It turned out, there were four new E cases in that store. I unloaded them all, and still no super. Very disappointing. Later that week I got ahold of two more fresh E cases, and still no super. Ugh.
