Ruthless Aggression is a wrestling figure line by Jakks Pacific that ran from 2003 to 2010 for WWE action figures. Their sizes range from 6 3/4″ to 7 1/4″. Larger characters, like Big show and The Great Khali, are almost eight inches tall.
The RA Line had many sub-series for collectors such as Adrenaline 2 Packs, PPV Series, Off the Ropes, Treacherous Trios, Wrestlemania 20-25, Best of WCW/ECW, ECW, and Classic Superstars. The primary Ruthless Aggression series lasted 44 series and Classic Superstars lasted to 28.
Overall, Jakks Pacific’s Ruthless Aggression style saw over 300 characters with thousands of figures total! The most released characters under the Ruthless Aggression umbrella were John Cena and Rey Mysterio.
Ruthless Aggression Main Series:
The Main series for Ruthless Aggression debuted in 2003 with a whole new body style and parts selection. The successor to the Titan Tron Live style of figures was a big hit instantly. The biggest appeal was character selection. The first two series featured 11 debut characters, with the only repeat releases in series 3 being Scott Steiner and John Cena. Brand new to the line characters were the hallmark of the RA series, with a fairly up-to-date roster continuing to come along. The Main Ruthless Aggression line lasted for 44 series.
Ruthless Aggression .5 Series:
After Series 7 of the RA line, the .5 series debuted. In between main releases, which were bi-monthly, there would be a .5 series, starting with 7.5. This would focus on repaints, updated attires, and occasionally a debut figure. This basically ensured that fresh product was constantly hitting the shelves.
PPV Series:
This series of Ruthless Aggression style figures was based on WWE Pay Per View Winners (excluding Wrestlemania). The PPV series could be found at all retailers, however the Wrestlemania Series was exclusive to Toys R Us. There were Summerslam, Survivor Series, Bad Blood, Great American Bash, Backlash, Cyber Sunday, No Way Out, and Royal Rumble waves.
Adrenaline 2 packs:
This line was alongside the Ruthless Aggression line with figures in the same body style. These were 2 packs of figures. The first series included many first time releases. Adrenaline lasted until Series 39, with the end of the WWE license in 2009. Many tag teams, and rivalries were included over the life of the Adrenaline line.
Wrestlemania:
The Wrestlemania Series was a WWE Toys R Us Exclusive. The Series began with Wrestlemania 20 in 2004 and ran until Wrestlemania 25 in 2009. It highlighted Wrestlemania participants in event specific attire.
Each year there were 3 series of 6 figures each and 3 Tag Team series sets.
Best of WCW/ Best of ECW
Best of WCW:
This was a Walmart Exclusive series featuring 6 top stars from the WCW era produced in RA style: Ric Flair, Chris Benoit, Billy Kidman, Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero, and Rey Mysterio. There was a good demand for these types of figures, but in the future they would be in the Classic Superstars line. The best in this line: Ric Flair
Best of ECW:
This was a Walmart Exclusive series featuring 6 top stars from the ECW era produced in RA style: Bubba Ray Dudley, D-Von Dudley, Rhyno, Rob Van Dam, Stevie Richards, and Rey Mysterio. There was a good demand for these types of figures, but in the future they would be in the Classic Superstars line. Best of the line: Stevie Richards
Classic Superstars:
The Classic Superstars line was a wildly successful extension of the Ruthless Aggression line. Using the RA body style and parts selection, the Classics celebrated WWE and Wrestling legends from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. There were 28 main series waves, 14 two packs waves, and 11 three packs waves. This comprised the most complete roster of wrestling talent ever assembled in figure form to date, only recently surpassed by the Mattel WWE line.
ECW:
Jakks Pacific added a Ruthless Aggression Style ECW Line in 2007, shortly after WWE had revived ECW. The first series included a few ECW originals, but as the line continued it included more of the WWE Version of ECW’s stars.
