Welcome to 2020. It’s January, and this month has definitely exemplified how January is the worst time of the year for diecast collecting, wrestling figures, and the toy department in general. Bare shelves and pegs everywhere you turn, as the stores recover from the mania of Christmas time. January is inventory time, and department reset time, so that spells disaster for collectors. Nothing but leftovers, or completely empty sections are the common theme.
Target: Target has had the most on hand as far as Hot Wheels, but it’s not saying too much. Most Targets received 2020 C case with Red Editions in them, but nothing since. Normally that would be a good thing, but before the end of 2019 they had been getting 2020 D case, so it’s a step backwards. Still, the current best shot at finding a super is in Target at the moment. They received a small bin with three cases. I was fortunate to open one:
The Target WWE section has some items, and by year’s end they put out the WWE Network Spotlight series, formerly from Toys R Us. I picked up the Diesel from that set. They also released the Elite Royal Rumble set, featuring an awesome Macho King Randy Savage in his 1991 Royal Rumble attire.
