Remembering Hulk Hogan Through My Wrestling Figure Collection: A Tribute from a Lifelong Fan
On July 24, 2025, the world lost a wrestling legend. Hulk Hogan, arguably the most recognizable name in pro wrestling history passed away, leaving behind a legacy filled with triumph, controversy, and unforgettable moments. While his personal life was far from perfect, I’ve always been a fan of Hulk Hogan the character; the red-and-yellow warrior who brought energy, charisma, and larger-than-life storytelling to the squared circle.
I’ve been collecting Hulk Hogan wrestling figures since 1992, starting with the Hasbro Series 3 figure that ignited my passion. Since then, I’ve acquired quite an assortment of Hogan figures across nearly every major toy line, from Hasbro, WCW OSFTM, Jakks Pacific, Mattel, and more. While there are many to love, these are my personal favorites; the figures that mean the most to me as a fan and collector.
Let’s go Line by Line, starting with Hasbro
The Hasbro WWF Wrestling Superstars line, released in the early 1990s, was one of the most popular wrestling figure lines of its time. Known for its bright colors, punch-action features, and affordable price, Hasbro brought WWE wrestling into countless homes during the peak of Hulkamania’s popularity.
Hulk Hogan was a cornerstone of the Hasbro line, appearing in multiple versions, most famously in the Series 3 figure that I started my collection with in 1992. These figures captured Hogan’s classic red-and-yellow attire and larger-than-life persona with iconic poses and simple action features that appealed to kids and collectors alike.
Though not as detailed or articulated as later figures, Hasbro’s wrestling toys remain nostalgic favorites and important milestones in the history of wrestling collectibles, especially for fans who grew up during that era.

Of course there is this one:

Though I didn’t collect the LJN Hulk Hogan figures myself as they were a bit before my time. They hold a legendary place in the wrestling figure world. Produced between 1984 and 1989, LJN’s Wrestling Superstars line featured large, solid rubber figures with no articulation. Hogan was front and center from the start, released in several iconic poses over the years: red trunks, white trunks, and even a rare shirted version.
While not as playable as later figures, these LJNs captured the larger-than-life vibe of 1980s wrestling and helped turn Hogan into a household name among young fans. For collectors today, they’re essential pieces of wrestling figure history, and a fitting tribute to the early days of Hulkamania.

WCW?
After Hasbro and Galoob wrapped up their wrestling figure lines in the early-to-mid ‘90s, Original San Francisco Toymakers (OSFTM) stepped in during the late 1990s to produce the official WCW action figures. These figures captured the explosive popularity of WCW and the nWo era, with more detailed sculpts and improved articulation compared to earlier lines.
Hulk Hogan was a key figure in the OSFTM lineup, especially as his heel persona, Hollywood Hogan, led the New World Order revolution in WCW. The black-and-white color scheme and rebellious attitude in these figures reflected Hogan’s dramatic transformation and were highly sought after by fans collecting WCW memorabilia.

My Hulk Hogan Wrestling Figure Collection leaves the past and looks to the future:
The Jakks Pacific Classic Superstars line, launched in the early 2000s, marked a major turning point in wrestling figure collecting. Unlike earlier mass-market toys, Jakks focused on collector-quality figures with improved articulation, detailed sculpts, and authentic likenesses by catering to both nostalgic fans and serious collectors.
One of the biggest draws of the Classic Superstars line was its celebration of wrestling legends, and Hulk Hogan was front and center. This line featured an impressive assortment of Hogan figures that showcased his many iconic looks, from the classic red-and-yellow hero to his nWo Hollywood persona. Jakks’ attention to detail brought these legendary characters back to life, sparking renewed interest in wrestling figure collecting and setting a new standard that many lines today still follow.
For fans like me, Jakks’ Classic Superstars were more than just toys, they were a bridge between wrestling’s golden past and the modern collector community.

And then there was Mattel.
When Mattel took over the WWE wrestling figure license from Jakks Pacific in the mid-2010s, they quickly established themselves as the gold standard for wrestling collectibles. Building on Jakks’ foundation, Mattel introduced unmatched articulation, superior sculpting, and premium accessories, setting a new benchmark in the industry.
Mattel’s lines, including Elite and Ultimate Editions, feature some of the greatest Hulk Hogan figures ever produced. These versions offer incredible detail, interchangeable heads, authentic ring gear, and even soft goods like fabric shirts and tights. Whether it’s Hogan’s classic red-and-yellow look, his WrestleMania appearances, or rare variants, Mattel’s figures bring the Immortal One to life like never before.
For collectors, Mattel didn’t just continue the tradition; they redefined what wrestling figures could be, making their Hogan releases some of the most sought-after collectibles in any wrestling figure collection.

Box Sets:

My top 3:
1. Hasbro Series 3 Hulk Hogan (1992)
This is where it all started for me. My first Hogan figure, and still one of my favorites. With its iconic punch action and vibrant yellow-and-red attire, this figure captures the spirit of early-’90s Hulkamania perfectly. For many fans of my generation, this was wrestling.
2. Jakks Pacific Mega-Maniacs Hulk Hogan (2005)
Jakks Pacific nailed it with this Mega-Maniacs version of Hogan, complete with red gear, yellow bandanna, and the charisma of his early ’90s tag team run with Brutus Beefcake. This one always stood out in my collection for its uniqueness and throwback appeal.
3. Mattel Ultimate Edition WrestleMania IX Hulk Hogan
One of Mattel’s most detailed and premium Hogan figures to date. This WrestleMania IX Ultimate Edition includes interchangeable heads, entrance gear, and that classic look from one of Hogan’s most talked-about matches. It’s an elite figure that celebrates his late-era WWF run with incredible accuracy.
While the three above are my personal favorites, I’ve collected many more figures over the years that showcase Hogan’s evolution from superhero to villain, and from icon to legend.
A Look Inside My Hulk Hogan Wrestling Figure Collection:

Hulk Hogan Was a Controversial Icon, But a Lasting One
There’s no denying Hulk Hogan’s personal life was filled with controversy, but I’ve always drawn the line between the man and the character. To me, Hulk Hogan the character stood for excitement, heroism, and spectacle. His influence on wrestling and pop culture was massive. Every time I look at these figures, I remember that feeling of watching him tear off his shirt, cup his ear, and rally the crowd.
Final Thoughts: Hulkamania Lives On
Even in passing, Hulk Hogan’s legacy continues through the memories, the matches, and yes, even the action figures. These plastic tributes tell the story of a man who helped define an industry. Whether you’re a lifelong collector or just a nostalgic fan, these figures are more than toys, they’re time capsules of Hulkamania.
