As posted earlier, Mattel has continued it’s Target Exclusive Hot Wheels Ultra Hots Series. Ultra Hots Wave 3 continues the pattern of all metal, spectraflame paint, and Ultra Hot wheels with a flame design. The majority of the modern Ultra Hots have been classic muscle cars, with a couple of exceptions. So far, we’ve avoided the Hot Wheels Original Design habit and there have been solid lineups. Here’s a rundown of Ultra Hots, Wave 3.
64 Chevy Chevelle SS. This one really stands out in a bright blue. This one can catch my eye walking by.
68 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S. A spectraflame gunmetal, another solid entry into the series.
71 Dodge Demon. In Spectraflame Dark Pink, this car is a front runner to me. The color jumps off the card.
71 Plymouth Road Runner. In spectraflame antifreeze, this classic muscle car makes a strong showing.
73 Ford Falcon XB. This spectraflame Red beast is the sleeper of the lineup.
Custom 69 Volkswagen Squareback. In Spectraflame silver, this one is the weakest of the lineup, but it could have been worse.
Nissan Fairlady Z. There’s always appreciation for spectraflame green, and this Z doesn’t disappoint. This is one of the two that are the “hot” cars of this set.
Porsche 934.5. The other “hot” car from this set, the Porsche in spectraflame orange is sharp enough but not really spectacular.

I love this line, and hope it continues for a few more waves.
The Best: 64 Chevy Chevelle SS
The Worst: Custom 69 Volkswagen Squareback
These are arriving in Target now, in a sidekick display in certain stores. I was able to acquire my set thanks to a collector buddy giving me the heads up, always grateful for that. Be on the lookout for these.
