For the second year, Gamestop was slated to host a Gamestop Hot Wheels event. The initial release from hotwheelscollectors.com was that the event was to be held on Saturday, December 5th. There would be cases available and you can mail in for a special release with the purchase of 20 cars. You could also order cases directly from Gamestop.com.
At the last minute, it was announced that the event was not going to happen, due to precautions related to COVID-19 and having crowds gather for events in close spaces. The stores still received cases, but there would be no formal event this year.
The “event”
After mistakenly heading to Gamestop at 10 am, I was made aware that the stores didn’t open until 12:00pm. A former coworker of mine works at Gamestop, and he confirmed that they had cases available starting at 12. I headed out there and this is what I picked up from the GameStop Hot Wheels Event:
It was not a bad haul. As it turned out, no one else was at the Gamestop Hot Wheels event while I was there, so I was able to go through three 36-count cases.I picked up my standard three exclusive colors each for my collection along with some extras. Unfortunately, there was no Super in this round, so the search for 2021’s first two supers continues…
