Bone Crunchers We Missed

The Jakks Pacfic WWF Bone Crunching Action figures debuted in 1996 as the successor to the Hasbro WWF line. Series 1 depicted the roster from late 1995, and series 9 covered early 1999. Today I’m going to list a few key superstars who should have gotten BCA treatment in that timeframe.

Jim The Anvil Neidhart

The Anvil was a huge miss, as he would have completed the Hart Foundation stable in 1997. No line since has had all five members included. Jakks Classic Superstars and Mattel weren’t able to get Owen Hart made, so the Bone Crunchers was the only time it could have been done.

The 1-2-3 Kid

the 1-2-3 Kid left the WWF early in 1996, along with Razor Ramon and Diesel, so he could have easily been in series 2, in place of the Bret or Shawn repaint. He made his return in 1998 as X-Pac, and had a great figure in 1999.

Jake The Snake Roberts

Jake the Snake was at legend status in 1996, and was around until the beginning of 1997, so he could have had a spot in the BCA line somewhere. The Bone Crunchers line was the only omission for Jake, as he could have joined Bret Hart and Davey Boy Smith in having a LJN, Hasbro, BCA, Jakks Classic, and Mattel Legend figure.

Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco

The Stooges Patterson and Brisco were both hated and beloved in 1998 and 1999, they definitely warranted inclusion in the line.

Mideon

The Ministry of Darkness had most of it’s members represented, but left Mideon out. We did have a Phineas Godwinn, but not for his solo run as Mideon and partner of Viscera.

Bone Crunchers: The Fringe but why not?

These guys are less likely, more of a deep cuts section but would all have made great figures:

King Mabel

King Mabel is more of a stretch, because he disappeared in early 1996, but he would have been a great addition to the early days. We did get him in his Viscera persona in 1999.

Bob Spark Plug Holly

Bob Holly was around during the entire BCA era, but he wasn’t a major player on television until late 1998 as he transformed into Hardcore Holly. Still, Sparky was a toyetic look and would have been nice in the line somewhere.

The Bodydonnas

The Bodydonnas were heavily featured in the first half of 1996, they could have been slotted into the tag teams series. It’s a stretch, but it would have been a nice addition to add depth to the roster.

Marty Jannetty and Leif Cassidy

The New Rockers were around quite a bit in 1996, but Marty ended up being Marty and was let go, so Leif ended up in ECW and became a player under his Al Snow persona. We got a BCA Al Snow figure in 1999, that had some controversy. But again I’m a sucker for tag teams, so let’s get the New Rockers a spot.

It’s always fun to reminisce about the Bone Crunching Action days, and ponder on the what ifs. It was a great line with a mostly complete roster, and will always have a fond place in my memories.

Happy Hunting!
