Worst? Best? Ranking the Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts of 2025

Collecting Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts has changed. Typically the regular Hunts were one per case, and were not highly sought after. This has been the case since 2013 when the hidden Super Treasure Hunt was introduced. Some collectors picked up “regulars” and others left them behind. In 2025, they’ve become as sought after as Zamacs, Red Editions, and other special cars in the line and they have been a lot tougher to find. As I mentioned, the rule was generally one per case, but that doesn’t appear to be the case anymore. They are out there, but between the higher demand, and not guaranteed to be in a box, the hunt is on. Let’s discuss the 2025 series, starting with the worst: For other reading, here are my rankings for 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Starting at the bottom:

NAME: Ford Performance Supervan 4
Case: A
Rank: 15

There isn’t really anything bad about this choice, other than it being a repeated casting from 2017. There also isn’t really anything good about it.

NAME: ’85 Honda City Turbo II
Case: F
Rank: 14

This car has exactly two things going for it. First, it’s a great color. Second, they didn’t blow a slot for a Super on this casting. The rest is just completely boring.

NAME: Honda S800 Racing
Case: L
Rank: 13

Speaking of completely boring, here is the other Honda from this year’s assortment, another underwhelming choice.

NAME: Triumph TR6
Case: Q
Rank: 12

The snooze-fest continues, with another unspectacular racer from Q case. Someone out there must like these?

NAME: Shark Bite
Case: M
Rank: 11

Our traditional nonsensical car, this one is somewhat charming but not anything I would chase down.

NAME: 1966 Triumph Tiger 100
Case: N
Rank: 10

This one is at least something different, but it’s not necessarily anything special.

NAME: Birthday Burner
Case: G
Rank: 9

I’ll give this one credit for at least being a unique color scheme. Otherwise it’s one of the famous “released, then treasure hunt the following year.”

NAME: Pedal Driver
Case: D
Rank: 8

I’m a fan of this casting, but this one loses points for being a repeated casting again from 2017. I firmly believe there are enough unique HW castings that the repeats should be very few and far between.

NAME: Fish & Chip’d
Case: B
Rank: 7

This one is a rarely used casting, which helps, but the color scheme is dreadful. Call it a mixed bag.

NAME: Mailed It!
Case: C
Rank: 6

This is another “release one year and TH the next.” I like the purple scheme at least.

NAME: Chevroletor
Case: K
Rank: 5

This is an even more rarely used casting, which gives it points. It’s a slick design, one of the better for this year.

NAME: ’84 Audi Sport Quattro
Case: P
Rank: 4

This one is intriguing because it really stretched the camouflage nature of Treasure Hunts. There are several models very similar to this one in the 2025 line, so it blends in and is harder to spot. I’ll give credit where it’s due here.

NAME: Nissan Leaf NISMO RC_02
Case: J
Rank: 3

For me, this one is nice because the color really pops. Word on the street is that it’s fairly unpopular though. I think there should be more neon HW.

NAME: Rig Storm
Case: E
Rank: 2

One of my favorite sub-lines to collect are x-racers. There are certain ones that I really enjoy. This one in translucent purple is a pretty nice looking casting.

NAME: Chill Mill
Case: H
Rank: 1

There’s something about this one that just jumps out to me. From the purple, to the flames, to the white wall wheels, I like this one the best of all from 2025.

In Conclusion:

I don’t think this was a great year for Treasure Hunts. They have become popular again for some collectors, who used to leave them behind. This group of castings are mediocre at best, but thankfully, good things are coming in 2026.

Happy Hunting!
