We’ve discussed Ultra Hots a lot. Once, Twice, and Three times. Even a fourth, just to be safe. I’m a big fan of store exclusives, a bigger fan of spectraflame paint, and also retro concepts. We’re still managing to avoid the Hot Wheels design bug, although they did manage to sneak in a Datsun and Nissan into this batch, which was inevitable. With the right casting choices, this line should continue to be popular, before Target and Mattel switch gears again for a new exclusive.
This one is sharp in green, but is kind of a plain casting. I like it though.
The first JDM representative of the set, this one is a bright green and looks good, but not as good as real spectraflame green.
The champion of this set, the skyline looks good in purple and is a great fit in this line.
This is one is one of the most popular in the set for what I feel is a couple of reasons. First, people are mistakenly thinking or claiming it is a Zamac edition. This is false. Second, Porsche is one of the most popular lines of all Hot Wheels. That makes this one harder to come by.
This one has been the most elusive for me. It is striking in gold, but is overall a mediocre casting choice. Call this middle of the road.
This casting is everywhere. When Hot Wheels debuts a new casting, they get their money’s worth. This one looks great in red, but is not a car I get excited about at any point.
I really like this one, I just wish they had left off the “ultra hots” on the door. The dark blue is sharp and I was happy to find this one.
Spectraflame Pink is always beautiful. This beetle does it justice and isn’t a bad addition to the lions. Overall this is a good lineup.
The Breakdown:
The best one of this bunch is the Nissan Skyline H/T 2000GT-X. Despite having the longest name, it’s also done in the best color (Spectraflame Purple) and stands out from the crowd easily. The big loser here is the Honda City Turbo, because it’s a played out casting and doesn’t add much to the lineup, but looks great in red.
